Clare is an award winning artist who has always enjoyed painting , influenced by an artistic family. Clare loves the countryside of her local area in Berkshire and Oxfordshire and the coast and countryside of the UK . Clare specialises in land and seascapes of the British isles
Clare has developed a unique style of painting in oils, which uses thin layers to allow light to move through the painting. These works are framed behind glass. Clare also paints on an aluminium based surface which allows the painting to be hung flat to the wall with no frame necessary. There are also paintings on cradled board which can be left unframed or presented using a floating frame.
Clare also specialises in a technique called monoprinting .This is well suited to the landscapes and seascapes Clare wants to portray.
Sketching on a windy cliff or beside a still lake or river provides inspiration to create her paintings back home in the studio. Clare is often up early to capture the light of sunrise on a scene, or chasing the end of the day for dramatic shadows and skies.
Clare is an exhibiting member of the Reading Guild of Artists and Wokingham Art Society and exhibits in galleries and exhibitions in the South of England
Clare’s work is in collections in the UK and abroad
I have painted since I can remember as my father painted so the materials were available at home. He like painting landscapes outside so I followed on. I have always enjoyed the outdoors and the coast and countryside of the UK so was naturally drawn to this subject.
Art has always been part of my life but I did not take it into a career at first concentrating on science. Over the last 10 years though I have been increasingly involved in the art world and have been successful in selling my work here and abroad.
I have often been commissioned to paint a favourite place or view in my unique style.
I am an exhibiting member of the Reading Guild of Artists and Wokingham Arts society.
I have won local and national awards for my work. A National award for abstract art, Best in show with the Reading Guild of Artists Summer shows 2018 and 2019
Marie Dyson award, Wokingham art Society Best in Show. Finalist Wraptious Art competition, Finalist Jacksons Art Competition
I have a unique method of painting onto a smooth surface in oils which involves thin layers of paint which allows the light to shine through.
I also use a technique called monotype which involves printing from a painting on a smooth surface. and passing it through a press onto paper.
