Bindweed Art Studio
I have been drawing buildings for decades and have recently unearthed sketchbooks from when I was 16 which are full of sketches from drawing expeditions with my Dad. The fascination does not seem to be waning and I find the local architecture very inspiring, whether beautiful, ornate or downright ugly, it’s fascinating how everything is jumbled up together. If you look up above the ground level facades to the upper storeys there are some absolute gems.
During the lockdowns in 2020 and 2021 I have spent a lot more time drawing and painting and have built up quite a large collection of these pen and watercolour paintings, some of which are shown here.
I work as a multi-disciplinary artist and my other interests include making handmade books, and monoprinting, both of which I teach regularly at workshops.
I’m lucky enough to have my own studio in the garden so when I’m not teaching I will usually be in there drawing, painting, printing, or making books.
