Matt Emmett is a graphic designer and an award winning architectural and landscape photographer based in Caversham, Reading.

He has been obsessed by the recording of lesser known historic locations and at-risk heritage since 2012 when a friend requested some camera tips and suggested doing the first lesson inside a huge abandoned jet engine testing facility. He now travels regularly across Europe recording the breathtaking vistas he discovers inside the myriad forgotten buildings that can often be found hidden in plain sight all around us. His work records immense detail and vividly captures the character and personality of the structures he shoots, often paying homage to the visual prompts imbued into the building by its architect. Symmetry, texture, contrast and the hard lines of geometry are clear themes but are softened by the aesthetics of decay which is present in many of the buildings he visits.

His long term project, ‘Forgotten Heritage’ has won several prominent international photographic awards and his work has been widely published in mainstream media, online and in one hardback book to date. He works with several of the UK’s heritage organisations as a photographer and as a global product ambassador for Pentax and Scurion.
